Simple Future Tense (Will/Shall)

a. Nominal Sentence
Positive
S + shall/will + be + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb) + Adverb of Time.
Example:
1) I shall be a student next year.
2) You will be smart two months later.
3) She will be in the laboratory next Tuesday.
4) Galang will be under the tree tomorrow afternoon.

Negative

S + shall/will + not + be + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb) + Adv. of Time.
Example:
1) I shall not be a student next year.
2) You will not be smart two months later.
3) She will not be in the laboratory next Tuesday.
4) Galang will not be under the tree tomorrow afternoon.
Note:
shall not : shan’t
will not : won’t

Interrogative
Shall/Will + S + be + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb) + Adv. of Time + ?
Example:
1) Shall I be a student next year?
2) Will you be smart two months later?
3) Will she be in the laboratory next Tuesday?
4) Will Galang be under the tree tomorrow afternoon?

Negative Interrogative

Shall/Will + S + not + be + Complement (Adj., Noun, Adv.) + Adv. of Time + ?
Example:
1) Shall I not be a student next year?
2) Will you not be smart two months later?
3) Will she not be in the laboratory next Tuesday?
4) Will Galang be under the tree tomorrow afternoon?
Note:
Shall I not …. : Shan’t I ….
Will she not …. : Won’t she ….

WH-Questions
1) What shall I be next year?
2) How will you be two months later?
3) Where will she be next Tuesday?
4) Where will Galang be tomorrow afternoon?

b. Verbal Sentence
Positive
S + shall/will + V1 + O + Adverb of Time.
Example:
1) We shall go to Solo next week.
2) They will play badminton two days later.
3) He will sweep the floor tomorrow evening.
4) Gilang will repair the computer next month.

Negative

S + shall/will + not + V1 + O + Adverb of Time.
Example:
1) We shall not go to Solo next week.
2) They will not play badminton two days later.
3) He will not sweep the floor tomorrow evening.
4) Gilang will not repair the computer next month.
Note:
shall not : shan’t
will not : won’t

Interrogative
Shall/Will + S + V1 + O + Adverb of Time + ?
Example:

These are the adverb of time which is used in Simple Future Tense.
1) yesterday
2) yesterday morning
3) yesterday afternoon
4) testerday evening
5) last night
6) last week
7) last month
8) last year
9) two days ago
10) a week ago
11) etc.

Simple Past Tense


a. Nominal Sentence
Positive
S + be (was, were) + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb) + Adverb of Time.
Example:
1) I was a student last year.
2) You were smart two years ago.
3) She was in the laboratory last Tuesday.
4) Galang was under the tree yesterday afternoon.

Negative
S + be (was, were) + not + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb).
Example:
1) I was not a student last year.
2) You were not smart two years ago.
3) She was in the laboratory last Tuesday.
4) Galang was not under the tree yesterday afternoon.
Note:
was not : wasn’t
were not : weren’t

Interrogative
Be (was, were) + S + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb) + ?
Example:
1) Was I a student last year?
2) Were you smart two years ago?
3) Was she in the laboratory last Tuesday?
4) Was Galang under the tree yesterday afternoon?

Negative Interrogative
Be (was, were) + S + not + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb) + ?
Example:
1) Was I not a student last year?
2) Were you not smart two years ago?
3) Was she not in the laboratory last Tuesday?

Were you not …. : Weren’t you ….

b. Verbal Sentence

S + V2 (Verb Past) + O + Adverb of Time.
Example:
1) We went to Solo last week.

4) Gilang repaired the computer last month.

Negative
S + did not + V1 (Verb Infinitive) + O + Adverb of Time.
Example:
1) We did not go to Solo last week.
2) They did not play badminton last night.
3) He did not sweep the floor yesterday evening.
4) Gilang did not repair the computer last month.
Note:
did not : didn’t

Interrogative
Did + S + Complement (Adjective, Noun, Adverb) + ?
Example:
1) Did we go to Solo last week?
2) Did they play badminton last night?
